Kenya’s airports kept their week after the Kenya Aviation Workers Union parked industrial action. Following negotiations on 27 July 2026, KAWU suspended the strike notice it had issued on 20 July, Eastleigh Voice reported — a pause, not a full settlement.
Talks were chaired by Roads and Transport CS Davis Chirchir, with Aviation and Aerospace Development PS Teresia Mbaika spelling the roadmap: parties gave themselves at most 30 days to clear the file. On the table were employment terms, dismissals, collective bargaining agreements, HR policies and the sensitive idea of deploying National Youth Service personnel into aviation roles.

KAWU secretary-general Moss Ndiema confirmed travellers should not expect strike disruption from that notice — while stressing the underlying grievances are only sequenced, not solved.
