NYOTA Phase II: Ruto Disburses Sh3.06 Billion to 122,203 Youth

President William Ruto on 10 July 2026 launched the second phase of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Langata, Nairobi, releasing Ksh3.06 billion directly to 122,203 young entrepreneurs across Kenya. Both returning beneficiaries and thousands of new entrants each received a Ksh25,000 grant.

Ksh3.06 Billion Released Across Two Groups

The first group — 88,934 established NYOTA beneficiaries — was awarded a second grant of Ksh25,000, bringing their total NYOTA support to Ksh50,000. The second group of 33,269 new entrants received their first Ksh25,000 tranche. Beyond cash transfers, the President announced a two-year waiver on county government business permit fees for all NYOTA beneficiaries, coordinated through the Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC).

What Comes Next

Attention turns to how county governments operationalise the two-year business permit waiver. The government indicated a Phase III expansion is under active consideration.
