Inspekta Mwala wins triple gold at London short stature games, asks Ruto for honour

Kenyan entertainer Mwala wa Ndambuki, widely recognised by his stage name Inspekta Mwala, returned from London this week carrying three gold medals from the 33rd National Short Statured Persons Games, one of the most prestigious international competitions for athletes with short stature conditions.

The comedian, best known to Kenyan audiences through the long-running comedy series on Citizen TV, competed across multiple disciplines at the London event, with his standout performance coming in the 60 metres sprint. His victories have drawn congratulations from fans and public figures, and he has used the moment to make a direct appeal to the Head of State.

In posts shared on his social media accounts, Inspekta Mwala addressed President William Ruto directly, requesting that the government formally recognise his achievement with a state honour. The appeal reflects a broader conversation in Kenya about how the government acknowledges sporting excellence outside mainstream disciplines such as athletics and football.

Kenya has a distinguished international athletic reputation, particularly in long-distance running, and the government has historically celebrated Olympic and World Championship medallists with public ceremonies and financial rewards.
