PS Omollo: National ID Reforms Expanding Access to Services and Inclusion

Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration Dr Raymond Omollo says ongoing reforms to national identification are removing historic barriers that locked many Kenyans out of services and opportunity.

Speaking at a public engagement, Omollo linked ID access to banking, social protection, exams administration and voter registration—arguing inclusion starts with a valid identity document.

Why IDs still matter offline

Even as eCitizen grows, police stops, land processes and school transitions still demand physical ID. Delays at registration centres hit border counties and youth first.

Sustained funding for registration outreach—not only portal upgrades—will decide whether the reform story matches lived experience.
