How KUCCPS University Placement Works in Kenya (2026 Guide)

How placement works

KUCCPS matches your KCSE performance, the programmes you ranked, and the capacity institutions declared. The Student’s Portal computes weighted cluster points — KUCCPS tells applicants not to invent their own formula.

  1. Open the Student’s Portal from kuccps.net (students.kuccps.net).
  2. Log in with KCSE index number, KCSE year, and password (KCPE index or birth-certificate number unless you changed it).
  3. When a window is open: pick programmes you meet the subject minimums for. Degree applicants typically rank multiple choices; follow that year’s on-screen instructions.
  4. Pay the application or revision fee through the official prompt (often eCitizen). Ignore M-Pesa messages that are not generated by the portal.
  5. After placement, confirm or decline on the portal if the system asks. Admission letters come from the institution, not KUCCPS.

Fees (confirm on the live invoice)

Public KUCCPS guidance has long listed about KES 1,500 for a first application and KES 1,000 to revise. Treat those as historical. The amount due is whatever the Student’s Portal / eCitizen invoice shows for the open window.

If it goes wrong

  • Cannot log in: index number and year must match KNEC records. Try KCPE index vs birth-certificate number as password.
  • Not placed: wait for official revision/TVET or subsequent windows. “I can place you tonight” is a scam.
  • Wrong course: use the official transfer/revision process for that year; do not skip reporting date without reading the institution’s joining instructions.
